LUMINES Electronic Symphony

Members of our Frag Doll community have said that the lifeblood of the PS Vita will be its games. This couldn’t be truer. After all, it’s the games that get me to invest in any gaming platform I purchase. I bought my Xbox so I could play Halo, I got my PS3 so I could play Little Big Planet and I got a Wii so I could Just Dance. I don’t think hand held devices are any different. Sony is banking on a number of AAA titles to help put their Vita into gamers hands. But I feel one of the strongest games available at launch will be Lumines Electronic Symphony.

According to PlayStation, “In 2005, Lumines was released as the number one-ranked title for the PlayStation Portable and still holds its place as one of the top five games currently available for the system”. That is amazing.

Well, fans of the game will be happy to know this classic hand held game is getting a reboot for Sony’s new PS Vita. The Vita sequel to Lumines is a brand new game but with the same enthralling fusion of interactive music and visuals. This is the first news of a PS Vita game to really pique my interest. I’ve never purchased a hand held gaming device. I have an iPhone to do all my portable gaming on but if this game really is as cool as it looks than that may have to change.

I am a lover of puzzle games. This is the perfect kind of hand held gaming experience for me. I can’t be bothered to watch epic cut scenes and follow an intricate story line while I’m waiting in line at the DMV or sitting in an airport. I need a game that’s easy to play for five minutes, but has the ability to keep me entranced for hours. This new addictive game certainly fits the bill.

The more I learn about this game the more stoked I get. According to the PlayStation blog, this game boasts quite an impressive line up of musical artists. Q Entertainment has loaded this game with tracks from some of the most significant names in electronic music history.
Here is the complete list of artists and songs that make up the 33-licensed tracks in Lumines Electronic Symphony.

• “4 AM” – Kaskade
• “Aganju” – Bebel Gilberto
• “Always Loved A Film” – Underworld
• “Apollo Throwdown” – The Go! Team

New GRFS Gameplay Video
Feb 02, 9:00 am

GRFS

Ghost Recon Future Soldier has been a very much-anticipated game for 2012.  Our team has been waiting for this 3rd person shooter title for a while so we can show off our skills as a leading female team once again. Anyone who has been waiting with eagerness, like me, will be pleased to know GRFS will be out on XBOX and PS3 May 22nd and the beta will be launching some time in April. Watch the all-new gameplay trailer at the link below.  This video is the first gameplay trailer and is focused primarily on single-player content. This video is just launching today so I want to make sure you get your VIP access to view it.

“You don’t win the battle by doing what is right. You win by doing what’s necessary.” – Unknown Ghost

“There is nothing fair, honorable, or just about combat. There is only winning and losing—the dead and the living.  The Ghosts don’t fret about even odds. They do everything in their power to overwhelm and obliterate the enemy.  Future technology is the key to winning an asymmetric battle. In Ghost Recon Future Soldier join an elite team of highly trained, cutthroat special-ops soldiers.  Armed to the teeth with unrivalled combat technology and cutting-edge military hardware, Ghost Recon takes you to the globe’s most deadly warzones to hunt down the highest value targets.
Only the dead fight fair.”

Being such a huge shooter fan myself, I was excited to hear the Creative Director of GRFS Multiplayer, Tommy Jacob, say “The three major ingredients for MP are: Combat, unique Intel (great way to play a support role) and team work”.

The Future Soldier multiplayer mode puts two equal factions against each other- Ghosts vs. Bodark. You will have the option to choose your class and play as a Rifleman, Scout or Engineer.  The Rifleman is your run and gun type player equipped with assault riffles and light machine guns. The Scout is for your stealthy player who loves to snipe and is equipped with sub machine guns. The Engineer is equipped with shotguns, personal defense rifles and equipment such as drones.

One of my favorite parts about the multiplayer is the “Confidence System”. Lone wolf attitude will not work in this game.  Playing as a lone wolf can take you up to 20 seconds to interact with an objective, but if you have your teammates around you your interaction times can be cut into half.

“… fighting fair just isn’t an option.”- Unknown Ghost

Another great feature is the “augmented reality”.  If you are someone who has a hard time memorizing maps, have no fear. Augmented reality has pushed the envelope to helping you and your team advance to the next objectives. Virtual paths are created to help you navigate quickly to your objectives or other teammates.

Along with campaign and multiplayer GRFS introduces a new and awesome experience with “Gunsmith”. Gunsmith is a feature supported by Kinect which gamers may examine and customize their weapon. Customizations included new optics, paint schemes, rifle stocks, and gas systems. Gunsmith will also feature configuration changes via voice commands.

So far we will see four different object multiplayer game modes shipped with a total of ten MP maps.

If you preorder through Gamestop you will also have the chance to get your preorder upgraded. The upgrade preorder exclusive includes the following:

FREE Upgrade to the Signature Edition- While Supplies Last

Soul Calibur V Launches in Style
Feb 01, 8:00 am

After much anticipation, Soul Calibur V has finally been released, and in great fashion no less. While some of the previous, risky ad campaigns have found themselves to be the center of online debates galore, NAMCO BANDAI has taken a more artsy approach recently by teaming up with Jim Rockwell, graffiti artist and creative director of ENDoftheLINE. After three long days, Jim used his impressive skills to paint Nightmare, Patroklos, and Ezio on the Great Eastern Street wall in London’s East End.

I certainly wouldn’t mind driving or walking past that every day. The amount of detail is absolutely insane, and the overall composition is utterly breathtaking. Every time I see two of my favorite passions meld together, gaming and art, I can’t help but zone out in mindless awe. Who knows, perhaps I will make my own graffiti mural someday. World of Warcraft? Splinter Cell? Dota? So many ideas!

Ok… back to reality now. I could go on and on about how awesome this is, but alas, I finally have Soul Calibur V in my grasp, therefore I must devote many hours of my life into this beautiful game.  Are you playing Soul Calibur V? Who is your favorite character? Hop on our forums, show us your awesome replays and screencaps, and tell us what you think. I hope to see y’all online!

Peace!

Customcrafts

I really started developing my own brand of customization and crafting back in Fall 2010 at my first New York Comic-Con. At every corner, street artists sold various works including speed caricatures, custom-done tees, backpacks, kicks and hats. Fidget and I drooled over a Frag Doll hat Phoenix picked up from a street vendor. That weekend I found a street artist selling his trade on the show floor so I bargained for myself & Fidget a deal at twenty for two. It was around and at that convention where I was faced with enough customized gear to make me consider how I could make my things cooler to my tastes!

Some of the customs I do are simple decoration with decals. Online I find and purchase car decals because they’re durable and stay flat better than a normal sticker. I converted some boring water bottles into cool with white or chrome Star Wars Imperial logo decals. The fishing tackle box that houses my makeup and jewelry got a glam-meets-geek makeover with a yellow-chrome Rebellion logo.

There is a big box in the corner of my closet full of large, extra large, etc swag tee shirts from conventions that have too cool of designs to part with. With big SWTOR shirt from PAX Prime 2010, I cut the logo off and iron-on’d it to one of my plain-looking dresses. Last spring I shared a vlog with you about what I did to make use of a great Scott Pilgrim shirt that was a little too large. I cut it up and used the pieces to craft this custom SP dress.

I found this great giant Mario mushroom decal that I’ve wanted to customize a piece of furniture with for some time. So to make a sort of toadstool, I took a plain wooden stool and painted it white. Then I striped it red and I topped it off with the Mario mushroom and a clear coat, and voila! I plan to make more customs as time goes on, so look out for some how-to’s and DIY custom craft videos from me in the future!
