It’s always sad when it comes time for one of our team members to hang up her black and pink. Glitch FD our sister Sarah Oliver, has been with the Frag Dolls since 2010. She was a member of the first Cadette class, and long-time Frag Doll community regular. Rhoulette put it best “We’ve come to know Sarah as a tireless gamer geek, talented troll charmer, and exceptional artist”. We wish her all the best as she moves on to the next chapter of her life.

Bubble Melody is Poppin!
All this last week I’ve been spotted fiddling with iPhone in hand, all because I heard about a free new game from the iTunes appstore. The app is called Bubble Melody and it came out this month on the iPhone, iPad and iTouch. The premise is about as simple as the game sounds; you’re popping bubbles. Being presented with different actions to take when certain bubbles coming at you and having to react quickly keep the game interesting.
The devs at Daredevil Development are infamous for keeping their identities and location a secret, as they want their games to speak for themselves. This particular title of theirs features adorable graphics and provides endless levels of fun easy-to-pick-up gameplay for free!
While playing, you have to be sure to pop every single bubble that floats from right to left. Each bubble that pops emits a flurry of musical notes. For every one of them you let pass by and fail to pop, you lose a heart. You only have five hearts total. You can gain one back by collecting the eight cute animals in the game. After you pop their bubble prison and free them, quickly tap and ‘catch’ the animal again to score more points!
There are more nefarious bubbles afloat here, containing a dangerous little devil; he’s the one you’ll find in the middle image below. You must be careful to hesitate from popping all the bubbles as they first appear so as not to pop a Boomskull’s bubble.. or else you’ll lose a heart! Pro-tip: If you let enough of the little buggers pass by in their bubbles to the other side, you can gain another heart back.

I found Bubble Melody was fun enough to keep wanting to continually pick it up during downtime last week. Since it is free from the appstore right now and as so many of our followers are iPhone and iPad users, just thought I’d spread the word!

Glitch Shows You Rocksmith at NAMM
A few weeks ago I went to NAMM 2012, a music merchandise show. I went to show Rocksmith to the attendees, we had the game set up in the Gibson booth. Everyone who tried it was excited about the game, no matter their level of guitar experience. Beginners like me found the game easy to grasp after a song or two. Advanced guitar players raved at the way Rocksmith gives you a fun way to pick up the guitar and learn to play new songs! Many of the show’s visitors tried the game and are intent on going home and either buying or starting their copy of the game and ready to learn new stuff. I show you some of how Rocksmith was received and some of NAMM’s show floor in this video!

Customcrafts
I really started developing my own brand of customization and crafting back in Fall 2010 at my first New York Comic-Con. At every corner, street artists sold various works including speed caricatures, custom-done tees, backpacks, kicks and hats. Fidget and I drooled over a Frag Doll hat Phoenix picked up from a street vendor. That weekend I found a street artist selling his trade on the show floor so I bargained for myself & Fidget a deal at twenty for two. It was around and at that convention where I was faced with enough customized gear to make me consider how I could make my things cooler to my tastes!

Some of the customs I do are simple decoration with decals. Online I find and purchase car decals because they’re durable and stay flat better than a normal sticker. I converted some boring water bottles into cool with white or chrome Star Wars Imperial logo decals. The fishing tackle box that houses my makeup and jewelry got a glam-meets-geek makeover with a yellow-chrome Rebellion logo.

There is a big box in the corner of my closet full of large, extra large, etc swag tee shirts from conventions that have too cool of designs to part with. With big SWTOR shirt from PAX Prime 2010, I cut the logo off and iron-on’d it to one of my plain-looking dresses. Last spring I shared a vlog with you about what I did to make use of a great Scott Pilgrim shirt that was a little too large. I cut it up and used the pieces to craft this custom SP dress.

I found this great giant Mario mushroom decal that I’ve wanted to customize a piece of furniture with for some time. So to make a sort of toadstool, I took a plain wooden stool and painted it white. Then I striped it red and I topped it off with the Mario mushroom and a clear coat, and voila! I plan to make more customs as time goes on, so look out for some how-to’s and DIY custom craft videos from me in the future!
