Diablo III Beta - At a Glance

Diablo III Beta - At a Glance

Diablo III, a game many of us dungeon crawler, RPG, Blizzard fans, have been anticipating for years, is finally more than just legend. We’ve been teased numerous times about a release date that was never to come, but finally, I believe it is safe to say, Diablo III is coming soon… ish.

For those just picking up Diablo III on your radar, or those new to the series, Blizzard has compiled a great list of features that you can expect from this game upon release.

Among the most notable are the four new classes: the wizard, witch doctor, demon hunter and monk.
“There are five classes in Diablo III; four (the wizard, witch doctor, demon hunter and monk) are brand-new, and the returning barbarian has many, many new destructive tricks for tearing through foes. Each class has a unique resource system and appropriately different playstyle – no longer do all heroes share the single resource of mana.

After hearing about these changes, I was dying to get my hands on time with Diablo III and luckily I snagged a beta invite!

For the past few sessions I’ve had with this game, I’ve experimented with both the Wizard and Witch Doctor.
The Wizard plays like a standard spell caster - lots of damage from afar, but very squishy when in melee range. A Wizard can lob fireballs, AoE freeze, and use the Force to push enemies away.
(Okay, it’s not really THE Force, but… you know.)

The Witch Doctor is also a magic wielder, but unlike the Wizard, she can raise the dead and summon zombie dogs to fight along her side.
Yes.
ZOMBIE DOGS.
Along with toads, parasites, and firebats, you pretty much have every creepy-crawlie from the Underworld on your side.
Many of the spells deal damage over time, akin to a Warlock in World of Warcraft.

I’m eager to continually explore all that remains in the Diablo III beta and expect a video coming at you soon featuring gameplay and a more in depth look at the game.

Is anyone else playing this yet or still waiting for their invite?
