An Official Announcement
Apr 10, 12:54 pm

imageI would like to formally announce that the members of Frag Dolls UK, Sarin, Jam and Kitt, are the official world record holders of the Longest Continuous Play of an FPS. Guinness has checked and double checked our logs and video footage to make absolutely sure that their rules were strictly adhered to throughout.  These included changing our map and mode selections within 20 seconds; following toilet break guidelines to the letter (we actually took just over half our allowed break time just to be certain) and playing constructively throughout – so no running against walls or sitting a character in a corner for a few minutes. We have passed inspection with flying colours and are absolutely brimming with pride. I have my frame all ready for when my certificate and letter of recognition arrives, which I’m assured is winging its way to me as I write this.

My personal experience has been one of minor triumph over adversity.  I struggled with a throat infection throughout the record, as well as my own grumpy impatience with being rubbish in some games and good in others. I’d like to thank my colleagues and good friends Jam and Sarin for their endurance as well as Phil, Pete, Dan, Anthony and Peter - all of whom did their utmost to make me as ungrumpy as possible.

There were other important elements to this undertaking besides celebrating the release of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and giving ourselves a bit of a challenge. The record was a great opportunity to bring some attention to a charity and make a bit of money for them. So far, thanks to people’s kind contributions, this record attempt has raised £551.28 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and the amount is steadily climbing. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity.  If you haven’t donated yet and would like to, check out our sponsorship page.

I’ve learned a few things during all this. Firstly, that I really like Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Thank God for that! Can you imagine what a nightmare the record would have been if I hadn’t? Secondly that I am a member of the greatest, kindest community of people I could hope for. Playing with the Frag Dolls community on Live was one of the most exalting experiences I’ve ever had. Your loyalty and thoughtfulness was really quite moving. Some of you spent a few hours with me that you could spare on a holiday weekend, some spent the afternoon on their couch with me, some stayed up the whole night and were there at 10am Sunday as I said thank you and goodbye, took off my headset and stood up with wobbly legs, blinking the tears out of my eyes. Ten seconds later someone took this photograph and that’s all I have to say about that.
