Light the Fuse
Nov 13, 6:05 pm

I’ve been looking forward to FUSE ever since I finished my Warfighters training in preparation for the event. I couldn’t wait for the chance to get into the arena and do battle with the punters.

When I arrived on the morning of the event I met up with some of my collegues from Ubisoft and got some Rainbow Six Vegas faceplates (the folks at Ubi know well my penchant for freebies and deftly avoided the dreaded whinge of Kitt). Once the Warfighters crew arrived it was all on - we were doing walkthroughs round the venue for the Rainbow Six terrorist hunts that would be going on later.  We set up the tanks, Humvee and landrover outside for the GRAW Arena. Obviously we took the time out to play with flashbangs, stuff our face with greasy burgers and swill drink down in the bar before it all kicked off.  But before you know it I was running round with guns shouting at Fuse and Multiplay punters to “KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!” or “GO GO GO!”

I was utterly exhausted by the time I made it inside to the nice warm venue. Right away I met up with Jam and some of the forumers and competition winners. Once we’d retrieved our Sarin from Twilight Zone train station, it was all go again and we were off running about interviewing bands and tournament gamers.  Gulping down drinks and asking the forumers and mates from games mags to hold them as we ran off to talk to another band member.

The crowd go wild for a bit of raggapunkmetal

When the headline act, Skindred, came on the place went nuts. I watched the Warfighters and forumers fling each other about in the mosh pit and - pardon me for getting a bit soppy - felt really truly happy. The mix of my friends and my work and being with the dolls and all the crazy running about was just the perfect combination, a fuse of all the things I love.

Here’s a wee taste of the event. A more detailed run down of the whole shebang, including the tournament and so on, will be coming to a marketplace near you soon!
