It’s like some kind of parallel universe or something. Like something out of The Twilight Zone or that show Sliders. A bizarre über-Japanese, very DS style game BUT ON THE PSP! How can it be?!
LocoRoco is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It’s crazier than Katamari and that’s saying something. It’s got the best music I’ve ever heard in a game. It looks superb. It’s uber cute. The gameplay is brilliant with wonderfully intuitive controls. The unlockable characters, new differently coloured LocoRoco’s who each sing there own song and have their own sound effects, are brilliant. You wouldn’t think new sound effects would be a big deal as an unlockable but you haven’t heard these sound effects yet! If you’ve played the demo and thought ‘yeah it’s a bit weird and sort of funny’ you have to buy the game it’s more bizarre than you could possibly imagine. It’s also super addictive and if you think having game dreams is odd in general try having LocoRoco dreams.

It’s great that there is finally something really original on the PSP. Some of the licences have been pretty good and we all love Lumines of course but this is finally something that makes the PSP worth having. If you were ever considering getting a PSP now’s the time. Yes seriously! For LocoRoco alone it’s worth it. If Sony could keep providing this level of originality it would mean a whole new lease of life for the PSP. So white, so shiny.

I met Brian from Team Playstation in a Chips game shop the other day and he gave me a whole bunch of LocoRoco stuff. I’m most in love with my LocoRoco dangly thing for my PSP. Cheers Brian!
