Highland Gaming
Aug 15, 1:40 pm

It is easy for us Northerners to feel that everything good happens down south.  All the best events seem to be gravitating towards London, and we can never afford to go.  However, there is a wealth of stuff to do right here on our door steps.

Over the last few years I have managed to go to some great events such as: The 360 roadshow, Go Play Games, and the EIEF (Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment festival).

Of course the EIEF is about to kick off again.  The capital of Scotland is currently buzzing with festival activity with the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Book Festival, and world famous Fringe Festival going on (among others!) You can’t move on the streets for tourists, and at every corner there is some young man playing his little heart out on the bagpipes for shiny American pennies.

Last year at the EIEF I spent most of my time playing Burnout Revenge, taking small breaks to check out such other delights as Far Cry Instincts, Nintendogs, God of War, Buzz and of course the obligatory Halo 2 room.  This year they have some things that I am pretty excited about too.  Ian Livingstone is going to be there, who I previously met when I managed to sneak my way into the radio interview section at a gaming event held in the Scottish Museum!  There’s also going to be an Ongoing Showreel of anime/online/machinima film shorts, including Dominator X, The Ore, and Ancanar.  Of course lots of gaming things to do too.  Woooo!

However I have a tiny problem.  I am not going to be in Edinburgh whilst the EIEF is on, as I have to run down to London in preparation to go to the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany (of course you will all be hearing about my time there as soon as I get back!).  So I need people to go to there for me!  I urge all of you lovely Northern readers of this blog to get into action and get yourselves over to the EIEF.  I want to know all about it, and I want to know from people I trust… So what are you waiting for?  It starts on Monday!
