In a small non descript room a circle of chairs has been placed. The painted concrete walls are not at all homely and the solitary basketball net reminds everyone that they are in fact sitting in a community hall. The men and women edge slowly into the room, not really looking at one another or talking much. The circle of chairs slowly fills.
“To start our session today ladies and gentlemen we have a new member, I’m going to ask him to stand up and introduce himself. Dan can you please say hello and tell us why you’re here.”
“Ok, but it’s not Dan ... it’s Ding.”
Chavez stands up slowly and looks at the eager faces before him. This is a new experience, and he is not as ease. Hunting down and killing terrorists, and leading a squad of men to their possible deaths are all in a days work ... But this is different.
“Hello my name is Ding Chavez, and I have a problem ... ”
The little know fact that Ding Chavez turned to alcohol shortly after we all last saw him in Rainbow Six: Lockdown, was not helped by his lust for gambling. After his last mission he fell into a self destructive cycle of slot machines and poker. Although he is currently seeking help and is well on his way to being a functional part of the R6 team once again it was felt best that he was not currently sent out to Las Vegas!
Logan Keller has stepped up to the job as team leader and recon expert for the all new Rainbow Six: Vegas. But really this is just small trivia with this new and exciting game…. and since I am currently too busy going to various AA meeting giving out group hugs in a vague attempt to discover Dings emotional side ... I’ve got some one else in to tell you all about it.
nb: the above may not bear any relation to the genuine storyline of the game. Ding Chavez will in fact return in Rainbow Six Vegas in a new role!
Here is the lovely Max Beland, Lead Game Designer on Rainbow Six: Vegas who I caught up with before E3, to give you an insight into Keller and his team.
